Jacob Glezer

I had a friend in high school named Jacob Glezer. Maybe you knew him too, or someone like him. He was one of those ridiculously smart types but also very down to earth and easy to get along with. Just an all around great guy. I regret not staying in touch with him after I graduated.

I just learned today that Jacob passed away last year after a long bout with leukemia and brain cancer. [UPDATE: A kind commenter wrote to tell me it was actually melanoma, which spread to his other organs.] I'm still in complete shock, trying to digest this news.

If you knew Jacob and would like to share some memories, please leave a note.

I knew Jacob over the last few years, and he was truly a very special person who impressed everyone who knew him. He is deeply missed. Jacob died of skin cancer (The most dangerous type of skin cancer: Melanoma) which spread to other organs

Thank you

Hi, thanks for your comments -- I corrected my original post with this information. I'm sorry for your loss. I wish I could have known Jacob in adulthood. Back in high school, he was definitely more mature and well-adjusted than your average teenager.

What! I am completely shocked! I went to high school with Jacob as well and he was an idol of sorts.

I had the privledge of spending 2 years with Jacob as my study partner earning our MBA at the Executive Program at SDSU. You would be happy to know he apparently hadn't changed much since you knew him in High School. Super smart - Yes, and talented - He inspired me to learn to play guitar. Those of us that knew him miss him greatly. Keep his young family in your prayers. His wife Judy is a lady of strong faith. I pray his 3 children know this world is a better place for having had Jacob touch so many lives.

I knew Jacob all the way back in elementary school and all the same admirable characteristics were true then as well. He was intelligent and kind and funny, too. I am sure he will be missed by his family deeply. So very sorry for your loss. He was a great man.

I had the priviledge to work with Jacob when he was in Belgium. I learned very much from him and we had a lot of fun. Jacob was just a pure diamond.
Like all his friends, family and colleagues, I miss him very much and think about him every day.

I too knew Jacob from the UC days and didn't keep in touch with him, to my loss.

He was a very cool guy and any who knew him were lucky.

I recently found a picture of him playing guitar and posted it to my Facebook albums.

Thanks for posting this Charles.

Charles! I just saw this through some photos Rick Dieterle posted on Facebook. (Who apparently commented above me.) I am so sorry to hear he passed away - he was a very special person. Thanks for posting this. - Alice (Quinton) Robertson
